Barcelona is a recognized late night party town with a range of establishments from pubs and wine bars to nightclubs, which don't even get happening until well after 2am.

Barcelona is a busy city at night with people bouncing from one place to the next, sometimes until the early morning hours. To find out tips on the city’s happenings, many of the news kiosks will have the magazine, Guía del Oci. The magazine is in Spanish, but it is not difficult to comprehend. This magazine is also online if Internet access is available.

Nighttime Festivities

The night scene in Barcelona happens in shifts. Many people go out to a pub for a few beers and tapas in the early evening. Dinner typically occurs later in the evening, around 10:00. Around midnight, some of the bars start filling in, including some of the wine bars. The nightclubs do not start filtering people in until one or two in the morning at the earliest. Many of the nightclubs are open until 6am.

Neighborhoods

While every neighborhood will have some form of entertainment, there are some that are well-known for night time festivities. The Gothic District and El Born are good places for pubs and tasty tapas. The narrow roads and old buildings give this area a pleasant atmosphere and a Spanish feel.

Las Ramblas and El Reval are centrally located and have a limitless number of bars and night clubs to drink and dance. This area is also notorious for pickpockets because it is such a popular hangout for tourists. The restaurants directly on Las Ramblas are typical tourist traps with overpriced and mediocre food.

Port Olímpic is a newer area near the marina with a stretch of bars along the waterfront and surrounding area. Most bars here do not have a cover charge, but the drinks can be pricey. Gràcia is an artsy, bohemian neighborhood with art studios and pubs to start off the evening.

Bars and Pubs

There is a huge variety of bars and pubs for all tastes and interests littered throughout the city. Many of the bars have great beer and wine selections and are a great meeting place for drinks. The Gothic and Born districts are inundated with bars and pubs nestled in buildings along the narrow, medieval alleyways. Bars close around 3am, but some are open later.

Flamenco Bars.Flamenco dancing is a popular dance style in Spain and watching Flamenco dancers is a stop well-worth making during the evening.Tablao Flamenco Cordobés (Ramblas 35) is near the south end of Las Ramblas where one can have dinner and watch cuadro flamenco, which includes dancers, singers, and guitarist. Local bars will have Flamenco acts for far less money than some of the larger venues.

Wine and Tapas Bars

For those interested in a relaxing environment with great tasting wine and tapas, there are wine and tapas bars scattered throughout the city. In Born, Va de Vi(Banys Vells, 16), a trendy wine bar and restaurant, has an immense selection of wines and cheeses to taste. In the Gothic District, La Vinateria del Call (Avenida Sant Domènec Del Call, 9) is a quaint place that serves tapas and a large choice of wines. In addition, many restaurants of all types serve Spanish or other worldly wine.

Nightclubs

These late night spots exude electronic beats and lively crowds that fill the dance floors around 3am. Many nightclubs do not even open until after midnight. Taking the promotional free entry passes that are handed out around the city will save the €6- €18 entry fee that many of the clubs charge. In addition, many clubs will offer free entry before midnight.

One of the popular nightclubs worth checking out includes Razzmatazz (C/ Pamplona 88), which is located in the Poble Nou district. The Razzmatazz is five clubs in one, with one entry fee to all five. Each room is different which draws a diverse crowd to this club. Another trendy nightclub is Moog (C/ Arc Del Teatre, 3) which is in the Gothic Quarter and includes an industrial décor with techno beats played by the DJ all night long.
