Boston Meets Spain, Iberia ConnectsThe Whole of the Iberian Peninsula Opens for New England Travelers
Yankees can now leave the hub in the late afternoon and arrive in Madrid before the business day begins. Now daily, flights are quick and easy.
The Iberia experience is a great one regardless of the class of travel chosen. Check-in for economy class is quick, efficient and even pleasant. Somehow, Iberia has found people for the desk that seem to enjoy helping passengers. A separate check-in for their Business Plus class meets the same standards – courtesy comes regardless of the price of the ticket. Passengers with disabilities are also assured of top notch treatment. Requests for a wheelchair can be made when the ticket is bought and becomes part of the e-ticket. On arrival at check-in notify the desk and they will arrange an immediate check-in and the wheelchair will suddenly appear. But equally impressive is the quick, friendly and easy transfer to the gate and to the aircraft door. At the other end of the trip they are just as efficent whith wheelchair handlers all the way to the car. While economy travel is always more crowded than one would wish, this is one of the better experiences and it is largely due to the helpful and friendly cabin staff. Seating may be 2, 4, 2 or 3 and 3 depending on the aircraft used. In Business Plus the service is all that you could desire with a welcoming drink, freshening hot towelettes and someone to stow your jacket neatly in a closet. The seating in Business Plus is in lie-flat chair-beds with an infinite number of adjustments. They actually make it possible to get a nights sleep so you arrive fresh. Guests are given a menu with three choices of entree and meals come with a salad and appetizer course, entree and dessert. A separate wine list offers a choice of four specially chosen Spanish DOC wines, two reds and two whites, and the choices change frequently. And, of course you can finish it off with a nice Spanish brandy. Iberia, a national airline, rightfully likes to show off good Spanish wine and spirits. Even in economy you still get wine with dinner but the choice is one red, one white or a sparkling wine. In these days when American airlines are cutting services, treating passengers as though they were a bother and have a nickel and dime mentality, this is one airline that delivers quality with its fares. This new Boston flight provides Logan International Airport with a strong link to Barajas International Airport in Madrid and an opening to the whole of the peninsula and Spain's Canary islands, an adventurer's dream come true.
