Where to look to buy cheap, direct flights to La Coruña airport, Galicia, Spain, from London, Paris, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon and Bilbao.
La Coruña is in the north-western corner of Spain, Galicia. The region is a huge contrast to the sun, sea and sand images we have of Spain, and its weather has more in common with Cornwall than the Costas. Still, all that rain coming off the Atlantic Ocean makes for a wonderfully beautiful, green area.
The Galicia region is known for a bit of an independent streak. That the name is close to ‘Gaelic’ is no coincidence, as the area has a strong Celtic heritage. This is reflected both in the local language, which is distinctly different from normal Spanish (although Spanish is spoken here too, and will be understood) and mysterious stone formations.
The city is also famous for its football team, Deportivo La Coruña. At one point they were a minor side, struggling in the lower divisions, but in recent years they have become a near permanent fixture at the top end of the Spanish table, and also in the Champions League.
But it’s all very well knowing what you can see there. What is the best way to get there, though? Many airlines, some offering great deals and bargains, fly into La Coruña from cities all across Europe. These include:
Air Nostrum L.A. Mediterraneo offers flights to La Coruña, Spain from Bilbao, Spain.
Budget airline Easyjet offers cheap flights to La Coruña, Spain from Madrid in Spain.
Iberia offers flights to La Coruña, Spain from Paris (Orly) in France, London (Heathrow) in England and Barcelona and Madrid in Spain.
Portugalia offers flights to La Coruña, Spain from Lisbon, Portugal.
Spanair offers flights to to La Coruña, Spain from Barcelona and Madrid in Spain
Not all of these fly every day, but they do have a regular service. It is always worth shopping around to see what sort of deal you can get, as the prices can vary dramatically depending on when you book, what time of day you plan to travel and what airport you wish to fly from. You should always make sure you are aware of the full price – including taxes and fees before confirming a booking. Also bear in mind that budget airlines do not provide a full service, such as free in-flight meals, and that you may prefer to pay a little bit extra to get such add-ons.
