For visitors to Malaga, a convenient and scenic away to visit Ronda in Andalusia is by bus or train. Bus routes wind through the Sierra Bermeja and Serranía de Ronda mountain ranges, passing through whitewashed Spanish villages, providing an insight into village life. Trains pass over rivers and ravines and through spectacular mountainous terrain, often not accessible by road.
Ronda bus station is on Plaza Concepción García Redondo and the train station nearby on Avenida La Victoria. Both are a convenient 5-10 ten minute walk from the centre of town.
Two bus companies travel to Ronda from Malaga, Los Amarrilos, tel 952 363 024, and Portillo, tel 952 360 191. Buses from both companies leave from Malaga Bus Station, Paseo de los Tilos, next to the train station.
Los Amarillos buses head directly inland from Malaga, cost approximately 11 Euros and take approximately 1.5-2 hours to reach Ronda. Portillo buses travel along the coast to San Pedro de Alcantara before turning inland for Ronda, taking approximately 2 hours 45 minutes to reach Ronda. Cost is approximately 10 Euros.

Trains leave from Malaga Train Station, Explanada de Estacion, tel 952 240 202. A train ticket to Ronda costs approximately 9 Euros.
There are no direct trains from Malaga to Ronda. Passengers must train changes at either Bobadilla or Antequera-Santa Ana. Journeys from Malaga to Bobadilla take approximately 50 minutes, and to Antequera-Santa Ana approximately 25 minutes. From Bobadilla or Antequera-Santa Ana to Ronda takes approximately 1 hour.
However, total journey times from Malaga to Ronda can vary considerably depending on the time gap between connecting trains. The timetable for Malaga to Ronda below shows only trains where journey time is less than 3.5 hours. Total journey times are shown in brackets.
Return trains from Ronda to Malaga, with one exception, generally take longer than the inward journey.

The most efficient approach for day trips to Ronda by train is to take the 7.40 train from Malaga and return on the 17.35 train from Ronda.
